Wellness Training Guidelines

  • Make wellness training effective.
    • Create an environment conducive to relaxation and reflection.
    • Keep the following factors in mind for:
      • space
      • participants
      • facilitator

  • Space
  • self-contained, to avoid interruptions and disturbance
  • clean, with natural light and carpeted floor
  • sufficient room for participants
  • chairs and tables permit group work
  • furniture can be moved to edge of room to permit floor work
  • audio-visual equipment: screen, projector, speakers
  • lights can be dimmed or turned off
  • use of candles permitted for breath awareness and relaxation
  • available 1-hour prior to start of session for set-up
  • available 1-hour after end of session for wrap-up
  • Participants
  • understand goal of session
  • understand time needed for preparation, attendance and follow-up
  • turn off cell phones and electronic devices during session  
  • wear clothing that allows breathwork & floorwork
  • remove footwear and socks
  • have background materials in electronic format 2 days before session (if relevant)
  • Facilitator
  • meets with convenor to establish goals and outcomes of session
  • assesses suitablility of space
  • prepares and distributes background material (if relevant)  
  • meets with convenor to assess effectiveness of session
  • determines follow-up (if relevant)
